- Trauma-informedTrauma-informed coaching considers the impact of trauma on a client's life and how it may be affecting their current experiences. The goal is to create a safe, non-judgmental environment where clients can grow and move forward and to help them use their resilience to achieve solution-focused growth. *Trauma Informed Coaching is the practice of understanding the presence of past trauma in a client’s present-day experience, and how to use it as a guide for resilience and solution-forward coaching strategies. It is not therapy. Therapists operate under a medical model of care and treat trauma.
Julia’s purpose is to create an environment in which clients, colleagues, and partners feel held and seen even as they challenge themselves to do hard things. Most of us are not used to taking time with each other to practice being the humans we want to be, and that may make us feel vulnerable and uncomfortable. As the adage goes, there is no growth in the comfort zone and no comfort in the growth zone. This idea is central to clients’ work with Julia, growing into our best selves.
As an intercultural coach, Julia is committed to offering fertile ground, sharing a brave space to help clients discover who they are culturally and embrace their unique blend of identities. With Julia, you will build self and other-awareness to better understand, appreciate, and bridge differences toward effective communication and deeper, meaningful relationships. Julia’s role as a coach is to accompany you as you explore both what is holding you back and the inner strengths that will propel you forward. With her, you will feel supported, challenged, and empowered. By the end of your work, you will have built your skills to navigate the complexities of our interconnected world with confidence and sensitivity.
Julia uses three main frameworks to guide her coaching:
- Mitch Hammer’s Intercultural Development Continuum (IDC): Offering a map and tools to navigate personal growth.
- The Intercultural Conflict Style Inventory (ICS): Exploring preferred approaches or styles for communicating, solving problems, and resolving conflict situations
- Coach Diversity Institute (CDI): Preparing individuals, communities, and organizations to thrive in diverse environments by combining the transformational power of coaching with diversity and leadership training.
Why seek intercultural coaching?
Each of us approaches the world in ways that reflect our unique experiences. Coaching can be a powerful tool to gain insight into your personal approach to communicating across differences. This new self-awareness can improve how you work, individually and as a part of a team. It provides a foundation upon which curiosity rather than judgment steps forward first, increasing your ability to understand others and increasing your willingness and ability to meet others where they are in service of a goal. Change is hard. A coach can help you process your experience and illuminate biases and cultural differences that are otherwise in your blind spots so that change feels more manageable and sustainable.
